Highlights – Mamma Toledo’s The Pie Hole

We had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Tanya from Mamma Toledo’s The Pie Hole. It was special for a couple of reasons. One, just to put it out there, she’s the only lady we have interviewed or has even agreed to do a highlights podcast. I reached out to a bunch but no one wanted to play. I think we’re nice enough fellows, no creeper vibes or anything. The biggest reason is that she was very open and vulnerable with us. I take it as a sign of respect that she was able to trust us enough to share her deeper experiences and how overcoming those shaped her as a business owner. In the podcast we discuss how she came to start her business, how she stays in love with baking after so many years, and what it’s like hiring family members (a lesson we listened to intently).

I feel that, in the spirit of full disclosure, I must say we did buy pie after speaking with her. AJ got a Coconut Cream Pie (his all time favorite) and I got the Carrot Cake (one that she mentions in the interview as a key to her starting out). They were both excellent, and let us say here and now and forever…there IS a big difference between home made crust and store bought. So, now that I have said that, I can in clear conscience recommend that all of you go buy pie. The people are genuine and the pie is delicious.
