Episode 209 – Is An Evil Necessary?

In this week's episode, Brandon and AJ discuss the relationship between good and evil. Do they both need one another? Is it really true that evil is necessary for us to recognize what is good? If not, why does God allow evil?

De-Inventing the Wheel

One of the things that has always seemed pretty self-evident to me is that it is way easier to identify problems in a current situation than it is to develop a good solution. The ultimate result of this, it seems, is a very chaotic stagnation where seeds are constantly planted, but then ripped out of the soil before they have a chance to bear any fruit so that new seeds can be planted, most likely to also be removed prematurely.

The Call To Adventure

Meaning is the fulfillment of purpose. It says, "my life is worth something...I AM worth something." Meaning isn't happiness. If your life is going to be truly meaningful, it will have to do with suffering. It will be full of pain and struggle, but there will be moments of satisfaction that are like happiness amplified 100x.

The Consequences of Free Will

At the very least, if our freedom is meaningful, it requires consequences. If God were to give us free will, but no matter what we chose, we wound up in heaven with Him, that would be an empty freedom.

2 Question Christians Must Ask

in that simple phrase that I had become disordered. My focus had shifted from God to myself. I was seeking something with desperation but it was for myself. Every time, God "blew it away."
