Virtues like loyalty, sacrifice, courage, and that special kind of protection that father's provide.

I realized that once I looked beyond myself, I found a butt ton of fear. I was self-centered, not because I thought I was great, but because I was in control. I can control me. I can't control anything else. As soon as I moved past what I could control, I was afraid.

Moving on from Lent, AJ and Brandon take some time to reflect on their Lenten journeys and their celebration of the risen Christ in this Easter season. Eventually, though, it becomes a conversation between them about the need for community, but also the way God gives us glimpses of consolation even in the midst of our desolation.
Children are influenced by their parents. That is their privilege and their curse. They will be taught and incorporate lessons from their parents without realizing that it came from them. The amount of time spent with parents makes it difficult to distinguish where the parents thoughts end and the kids thoughts begin. One of the most important things a person needs to do as they come into their own is assess their thoughts and determine which ones they truly believe and which ones belong to their parents and they want to leave behind.
