Highlights – Red Dragon Woodworks

We discovered Michael’s work through Instagram, most notably by his bottle openers. I saw that his bottle openers were being sold at District 48 clothing store. I poked around his page and found he did flags out of reclaimed wood, which I’m a big fan of. One of my favorite things about Michael’s page is that his business his him, and not some fake front. He shares the things he cares about and talks about his family. This is how I knew he would be a great addition to our Highlights.

I reached out to Michael via Instagram and he was super excited to do a podcast. We messed up the scheduling a bit, but eventually made it happen. In the interview, we discuss his first love of skateboarding and how a terrible car accident with his friends lead him to do a fund raiser, making corn hole boards, and that is how he discovered his love for word work. He now combines his two loves by using reclaimed skateboards in many of his designs. Michael has a great energy and it comes through on the podcast.

I strongly recommend following Red Dragon Woodworks and if you would like one of his pieces or need some custom wood work done, here is his website.

I would also like to thank our gracious hosts, Peoria Artisan Brewery. The server helped me get a good spot so we werent under a speaker and took excelent care of us through recording and talked with us after. I appreciated her knowledge of the beers, which was delicious. I highly reccomend you try PAB.
