Meaningful Conversations With Delicious Beverages
This week, AJ and Brandon thought they were going to be discussing prayer, but like good conversation often does, they were pulled in a different direction and talked about the importance of community and the difficult question of whether our churches have failed us(or if we've failed them) during this pandemic.
This week, AJ and Brandon continue talking about faith, this time with a special emphasis on the importance of faith being something we grow and develop. Faith is something we have to practice if we want to actually have it impact our lives.
On November 2nd, this coming Monday, we celebrate All Souls Day. All Souls Day, much like All Saints Day, is one of remembrance. The difference is that, on All Souls Day, we remember all of the faithful deceased. There are two main reasons I love this day so much. It's a reminder of the importance of our prayers for the deceased and it's a day filled with hope.
It's easy to think you're on top of things when life is going well. It's when things seem out of control that the cracks in your foundation show through.
I came up with this idea for a timely mini-series of posts back in a quaint time when we thought we were getting ready for a Lent similar to the Lents we've experienced in the past. It was a simpler time. Then, we received a penance that we didn't know was coming.
Alms giving is how I wanted to conclude our look at these penitential practices for a couple of reasons. First, because it is a fitting and logical end of the other two, and secondly, because it sometimes feels the least penitential.
As the Lenten season continues to roll on, I'm continuing to look at the three pillars of the season, namely fasting, prayer, and alms giving. Today, I want to focus on what I see as the most essential of the three, prayer.
